A New Jersey doctor and pilot is about to start his third plane trip around the world Friday to help raise money for Alzheimer’s research.
Dr. Ed Galkin, 82, flies to help honor and remember his brother, who died of the disease two years ago.
Galkin is taking the trip, his third, in a 1976 Cessna 2010, and expects to be gone for approximately a month, returning to Central Jersey Regional Airport on or around Dec. 4.
So far, Galkin has raised more than half of his goal.
Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect the elderly; approximately 200,000 Americans under the age of 65 have younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
