The New Jersey Devils introduced new coach John Hynes at a news conference Tuesday.
Hynes, 40, is the youngest head coach in the NHL. He joins the club from Pittsburgh, where he coached in the Penguins farm system for the last five years. His teams made the playoffs each season.
Although he is young, Hynes, who has over a decade of coaching experience, says he doesn't feel like a rookie. He says he wants to focus on bonding with the players.
"That's the most important thing as a coach is to be able to connect with people and connect with players and I'm really excited to do that," Hynes says.
Devils General Manager Ray Shero says under Hynes, the Devils will be a fast, attacking team that knows how to play defense.
