National Weather Service confirms tornado during Tuesday’s storms in Jersey Shore town

The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado did touch down in Normandy Beach during Tuesday’s severe thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado did touch down in Normandy Beach during Tuesday’s severe thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado began as a waterspout over Barnegat Bay between Silver Bay and Kettle Creek, moved onshore briefly as a tornado, and then back offshore as a waterspout.
The National Weather Service says the tornado traveled an estimated 0.4 miles on land before lifting and becoming a waterspout again.
Several boats and trailers were flipped at the Normandy Beach Yacht Club, and minor damage was reported on one home.
There were no injuries to report.
