New Jersey residents woke up to below-freezing temperatures Monday, as a burst of cold air came through the state this past weekend.
Several areas of northwestern New Jersey saw the first snowfall of the season due to do the below-freezing temperatures. The folks at Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Vernon Township say that they welcome the snow.
"It means winter is right around the corner," says Mountain Creek spokesperson Sara Hazen. "So it gets us excited for the winter.
Hazen says that the resort is preparing for ski season, and is putting $500,000 into the snowmaking business.
Workers at Mountain Creek say there needs to be extended periods of cold temperatures in order to make the snow. They hope to have a couple of trails up and running by Thanksgiving.
