Mayor Steven Fulop says Jersey City has its first “presumptive positive” case of coronavirus. The mayor made the announcement on Twitter.

Mayor Fulop says several people went through the testing process over the last few weeks who felt symptoms, and all tested negative on initial tests. Fulop says today’s results are the first time an individual has tested positive on the initial tests, and they are conducting follow up now per protocols.
The mayor says it’s a 41-year-old female who lives in downtown Jersey City, who was proactive when she felt symptoms and initiated testing with her private physician.
The results then got transmitted to the city’s health department Communicable Disease Reporting Surveillance System.

Fulop says they will be providing more information and support as it becomes available.
Their Health & Human Services is working will contact people proactively if they have had contact with the individual.
