A Matawan reverend is talking about her battle with lung cancer, which she was diagnosed with after working at the World Trade Center site, so other responders can get the medical help they deserve.

Reverend Denise Mantell, of the Trinity Episcopal Church, is working with researchers to test the long-term health effects of being at the dust- and debris-filled site after the terrorist attacks. Mantell volunteered long hours, many of them without a mask, blessing the dead and praying for their families. The reverend now wears a wig because chemotherapy made her hair fall out, but she believes the worst days are behind her.

Mantell says she would not change a thing. She says she went to Ground Zero, where thousands died, because she was needed there. Now, she says she?s most needed at her New Jersey Parish and she plans to keep up the fight.
