Man faces murder, other counts in fatal shooting of father
Bail has been set at $1 million for a man charged with murder in the shooting death of his father.
Middlesex County prosecutors say 20-year-old Vishal Shah is also charged with hindering apprehension and a weapons offense in the death of his 53-year-old father, Pradipkum.
The shooting occurred Friday morning in the family's Sayreville home. The elder Shah died the next day at a hospital.
A possible motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.
Vishal Shah was arrested Sunday night, and it's not known if he's retained an attorney. The charges against him were made public Monday.
Prosecutors say Shah used a .25-caliber handgun to shoot his father at their home and then hid the weapon, which has since been recovered.
