Are you looking to make some changes in 2020? One nonprofit organization wants you to dip your toes in becoming a vegan.
While some are trying to cleanse themselves after the holidays by participating in an alcohol-free January, a United Kingdom-based nonprofit group wants people to become vegan for the month – Veganuary.
“Let’s just start by putting plants first…completely omitting anything that derives from an animal,” says Joyce Abady, owner of Long Branch-based The Juice Theory.
The Juice Theory is a vegan, kosher, organic restaurant, with another location in Brooklyn. Abady says that it is a great place for those who wish to experiment with veganism.
“It’s how you can make the sides, the vegetables and the good starches and the good grains, the center of the plate,” she says.
And for anyone who may feel as if going vegan as a lifestyle is too extreme?
“Take on one day, something small. Usually when you’re not intimidated by it is when you have all the freedom to create,” Abady says.
The Veganuary group says that during the 2019 campaign more than 250,000 took the pledge to try a vegan diet.
