Animals at the Johnson Park Animal Haven will be heading to new homes.

The Middlesex County Board of Commissioners announced that the zoo would be closing.

This comes weeks after animal rights advocates called for the facility to be shut down after Ida. Many were enraged that the flooding left the animals trapped in their enclosures.

The animals will be sent to animal sanctuaries, zoos and farms across the state.
