Jersey Shore outlets offer 800 new jobs in retail
More than 800 New Jersey residents will find work at the new Jersey Shore Premium Outlets, slotted to open next week in Tinton Falls.
In addition to retail and management positions, building the shopping center provided work for 300 construction workers.
Many people say they are struggling to find jobs after being laid off, or they need more work to afford holiday gifts this season. For one resident, a second job in retail will provide the supplementary income he needs in order to buy presents for his family.
Tim Lawrence, from Freehold Township, works full-time in construction, but says his work has been unsteady. He is now working part-time at the Vans Outlet and earning $8.50 an hour.
"It definitely will help give my kids a better Christmas,? Lawrence says. ?I don't really care about myself, it's more about them."
Though most of the management positions have been filled, there are still jobs available at the outlets, which open on Nov. 13.
