A Jersey City teacher has been suspended following two profanity-laced rants aimed at his students.
Howard Zlotkin teaches at Dickinson High School. He reportedly made a vulgar attack toward his students during a Zoom class. One of the students recorded the rant as evidence.
WNBC reports that Zlotkin’s tirade appeared to be aimed at four Black students, where he criticized the Black Lives Matter movement and referred to George Floyd as a “criminal.”
Deputy Superintendent Dr. Norma Fernandez said in a statement, “The District is appalled by the statements he made to students filled with anger, profanity, disrespect. The teacher's behavior was unbecoming and extremely unprofessional. His views do not represent the Jersey City Public School District's focus on equity and diversity.”
Zloktin was suspended pending an investigation. The matter has been forwarded to the district legal department.
