Police officers in Howell used fire extinguishers from their vehicles, garden hoses from other homes, and booster lines from additional arriving firetrucks to keep a house fire from spreading.
The neighbor across the street realized the house was on fire and ran over, alerting residents who were not aware the entire exterior front of their house was ablaze.
The fire became so intense that the woods caught on fire. A shed and fence two houses down also began to burn.
Officials say the officers, the neighbors and the fire department are being credited with making sure the fire didn't spread any further.
While the main house was a complete loss, other houses were saved. The police chief says it showed everyone working together to help each other and how committed they are to the community.
Police say everyone was able to escape.
