Hillside company slashes 300 jobs
Employees who showed up for work Monday at Survivor Technologies in Hillside were told they were no longer going to be paid. After years of providing Reliabilt Windows for Lowe's and doors for many companies around the country, the inability for Survivor Technologies? parent company to pay its revolving loan has led to shutting down the operation. Truck driver Charlie Depoalo, of Jersey City, was let go. He says he needs to find a job within the next two days. ?I have a family, I have car payments, I have a mortgage, kids in college,? says Depoalo. Survivor Technologies Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey Benney says four other sister companies were also closed down. ?The orders just aren't there to keep the company going,? says Benney. Now, 300 employees are without a job.
