(04/23/07) HAWORTH (AP) - A funeral Mass was celebrated in Haworth Monday for one of the students killed in the Virginia Tech massacre.
Matthew La Porte was a sophomore from Dumont. The 20-year-old was an Air Force ROTC cadet and musician.
La Porte was a graduate of the Carson Long Military Institute in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania.
A wake was held in Flemington for the second of three Garden State residents to die in the shootings. Michael Pohle was a Raritan Township resident. The 23-year-old was due to graduate from a five-year biology program in a matter of weeks.
