The city council voted 4-1 on the move Wednesday as tourists continued crowding the area.

Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa have also previously closed beaches to the public.
The announcement comes after just Monday that the beach was packed with people on spring break who apparently were not interested in social distancing, and didn’t appear to be six feet away from one another -- despite official recommendations to avoid large crowds.
