Residents in low-lying coastal areas prone to flooding are relieved this weekend as Hurricane Joaquin tracks far off the coast, and a separate coastal storm moves out of the area.
Only moderate flooding was reported on the side streets of Manasquan. The area is susceptible to flooding and tidal surges.
Early storm tracks put Hurricane Joaquin inline to make landfall in the tri-state area. Forecasters say the current track will put the storm well off the East Coast.
"We're fortunate on this one. We dodged a bullet," said Chris Tucker, of Manasquan's Office of Emergency Management.
Tucker says crews had a busy night Friday with downed trees and power lines. He also says there has been moderate erosion so far.
A coastal flood warning remains in effect through 6 p.m. Sunday.
