Fire destroys discount store in Irvington

Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a discount store in Irvington. The fire started just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the Buck N Up store on the 600-block of Nye Avenue.

Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a discount store in Irvington.
The fire started just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the Buck N Up store on the 600-block of Nye Avenue.
Firefighters from several surrounding towns were called in to help douse the flames. Parts of the building collapsed from the heavy fire, fueled by the paper goods inside the store.
One firefighter was slightly burned on his face. He is expected to be OK. There were no other injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The remains of the building are expected to be knocked down by the end of the week.
