Firefighters put out a fire at a home in Toms River Monday afternoon.

The fire was at a home in the Greenbriar Woodlands gated adult community.

The fire was reported just before noon at a home on Chanticleer Court. Large flames and smoke could be seen coming from the roof while the fire was at its worst.

Fire officials tell News 12 that no one was inside at the time. Homes within Greenbriar Woodlands suffered a power outage earlier Monday morning, leaving thousands without electricity. News 12 is trying to confirm a report that a generator connected to the house exploded and caused the fire when the electricity was restored to the neighborhood.

The homes on either side of the one that burned didn't seem to be affected.
