A grieving family says that they are desperate for answers nearly one year after a loved one was killed in a hit-and-run crash.
It was Jan. 8, 2019 when a vehicle struck and killed 76-year-old Lynn Crow near the intersection of Woodland and Chatham Road in Short Hills. Crow was out for one of her daily walks. It has been nearly one year and no one has been able to identify the driver.
“Everybody knows their parents are going to die, but not on a Tuesday a few days before her grandson is born,” says Crow’s son Alexander “Sandy” Crow.
Lynn never got a chance to meet her grandson Cooper, who was born just three days after she died.
The family says that no one has come forward and that police haven’t been able to identify any suspects. Sandy says that he is not looking for the driver to be punished, but he just wants some closure.
“Maybe the person that did it or maybe a relative or somebody who remembers the tiniest little thing – it’s not born out of punitive thoughts. It’s more about a healing thing for our family,” Sandy says.
Crow loved to travel and give back to her community. Her son says he knows she's watching over her four grandchildren every day.
“That day I was going to call her to send my sister flowers. I try not to dwell on it because ‘what-ifs’ can be a real heart-breaker, but I wish I did,” Sandy says.
Anybody who may have information is urged to call the Essex County Prosecutors Office at 973-621-4700.
