The family of a 19-year-old man fatally shot by a Nassau police officer back in February held a rally Sunday to demand answers from the department.
Matthew Felix was shot after police say he carjacked a vehicle and led them to Queens.
Samantha Felix says she and her supporters are demanding answers from Nassau police and the New York Attorney General's Office. She says her brother was fatally shot a week before his birthday and not long after getting his GED.
According to Nassau police, Matthew Felix was wanted in connection with a Garden City Park carjacking on Feb. 25 and officers tracked him to his Cambria Heights home that afternoon. Police say after a brief pursuit, officers opened fire, killing him.
In video obtained by News 12, officers are seen jumping out of the way while Matthew Felix was driving as the car goes up onto a curb and into a building.
Police say four officers were treated for trauma.
Matthew Felix's supporters say Nassau police should not have been in Queens and that they used excessive force.
Samantha Felix, other family members and supporters held a rally and rode in a car caravan Sunday from Elmont to the location of Matthew's shooting in Cambria Heights.
The family says they will continue to talk about his life and how he died until they get answers.
Nassau police tell News 12 they have no comment today about the rally or the shooting.
According to the Attorney General's Office, the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
