The son of a man killed in a Bridgeport hit-and-run Friday says his mother hasn't gone home since the crash because it happened right outside her house.
Nate DuBose, 66, was walking on the 600 block on Sylvan Avenue when a driver hit him and fled the scene without stopping.
Rodney DuBose says his dad lived there for more than 46 years. "People knew him as a truck driver. People knew him as an auto mechanic. People knew him just out there all over the East End."
Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver. They say the car involved was gray or silver. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department.
The younger DuBose lives in Florida and says he hadn't seen his father since a family reunion over the summer.
"Usually he's the life of the party, and usually if there's a microphone around, he'll eventually get his hands on it," he says. "To know that that voice, that energy is silenced now, that's difficult. But I do know that he didn't waste a minute."
DuBose will be buried in South Carolina, but a local service will be held at the Peterson Funeral Home Wednesday.
