The announcement of Adam Walsh?s killer by law enforcement officials this week brought closure to the famous family ? a closure New Jersey families in similar positions desperately need.
Piscataway resident Germaine Maurer?s son Ben vanished six years ago. At first he was considered a runaway but is now listed as an endangered missing person by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
?I dream about a knock on the door and looking out and seeing it?s Ben,? Maurer says.
Maurer found some relief this week from friends John and Reve Walsh, who can close the book on their son?s death 27 years ago.
"I'm so glad the Walsh family has some closure,? she says.
Another beacon of hope for families like Maurer?s can be found in another announcement by New Jersey law enforcement officials this week. A program called CART will be utilized in the state to improve training and communication for handling child abductions.
