Businesses in the downtown area of Rhinebeck are reinventing themselves after months of closure due to the pandemic.

After being shut down for a few months, shoppers are once again able to indulge their sweet tooth inside Samuel's Sweet Shop on Market Street.

The shop is a must-visit place for delicious candies, cake and coffee, all mixed in with a little Hollywood glamor. It is co-owned by three celebrities, including actor Paul Rudd.

News 12 is told the actor's favorite treat from the shop is the "Clodhopper." It is a mix of peanut butter, graham cracker and chocolate.

Manager John Traver says he's thrilled to be serving customers in person again.
"It's wonderful, it's great to be open," he says. "This is a feel-good store. It's very experimental. Folks get candy, chocolate, coffee. We have fantastic homemade coffee, they always sell."
Winter Sun and Summer Moon is another shop on Market Street that is back in business. It has been a staple in Rhinebeck for over 30 years.

It offers an eclectic mix of clothing and gifts from around the world, and from local artisans.

"The reopening was pretty great. A lot of local people came out and support us. That's always been the backbone of our business and local community. We been very fortunate, to be in Rhinebeck. The mayor and chamber of commerce did a lot to help merchants with outdoor seating and outdoor shopping," says owner Lila Prague.

A mother and daughter owned giftshop Periwinkles has reopened in Rhinebeck as well. It offers pet owners all kinds of treats for their dogs.
