Friends and family of a Newark woman found dead inside a garage are mourning her death.
The body of 50-year-old Pamela Davis was found, decapitated and wrapped in a blanket inside the garage of a home on the 800-block of South 11th Street in Newark. She was found only seven houses down from where she lived.
"It was devastating. Very painful to hear in this neighborhood," says the Rev. Thomas Perry.
Davis lived in Newark with her children, including a teenager with autism for whom she cared. Her family reported her missing on Oct. 30. Her adult son led the charge to find her.
"His concern was on a high level," says neighbor Yoel Thomas. "He put up posters and fliers. He went door to door."
Newark police officers responded to the South 11th Street home Monday night after receiving reports of a foul odor coming from the garage. Davis' body was found inside.
Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that an elderly couple and another man live in the home where the body was found. Law enforcement officials will not confirm if any of them are suspects.
Davis' cause of death has not yet been released.
