After a lawsuit and several years of wrangling, City Island residents will soon be getting a new bridge that some say will complement their nautical community.
Dozens of elected officials, community leaders and City Island residents joined Commissioner Polly Trottenberg from the city's Department of Transportation to unveil a new bridge design for the City Island Bridge.
While the new design resembles the 103-year-old span, it will be wider.
The construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
