A New Jersey teen is expected to make a miraculous recovery after a serious cliff diving accident over the weekend.
Police in Tuxedo, New York were called to the Ramapo River on Saturday after an 18-year-old girl was injured. They say that the girl misjudged a 35-foot jump off the cliff and hit her head on some rocks, passing out on impact.
The teen’s friends were able to save her from drowning and called 911. Police were able to get the teen, who was not identified, out of the area on a stretcher.

Tuxedo Police Lt. John Norton says that it was a difficult rescue.
"Everything about it was just difficult. From the heat, to the terrain, to the river - everything. The remote location, her injuries. And unfortunately that had to be the priority -we had to make sure she was immobile,” Norton says.
The teen broke her collar bone and a rib and suffered some spinal injuries. But officials say that it is likely she will be able to walk again.
Authorities say that they want to remind the public that the area of the Ramapo River is not covered by a lifeguard and that swimming in the area is prohibited.
