? Governor Jon Corzine (D-NJ) announced his support for presidential hopeful, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Monday.
Clinton was in Elizabeth for her first campaign stop in the Garden State. The senator has earned a record $26 million in campaign contributions for the first quarter. According to a February poll by Qunnipiac University, Clinton had 41 percent of the vote in a New Jersey Democratic Party primary. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) had 19 percent.
Corzine praised Clinton?s work while in the U.S. Senate during a news conference. He said she?s the best choice to lead the nation. Clinton said, ?I am grateful for this endorsement. It means the world to me. Together we?re gonna take America back and put it on the right track.?
Corzine served in the Senate with Clinton before he was elected governor in 2006. Monday?s campaign stop takes place almost 10 months before New Jersey holds its primary elections on February 5.
