It’s a problem that many cellphone owners know all too well, the price listed on a company’s website rarely matches the monthly bill.
News 12 New Jersey viewer “Ron” says that he was finally fed up with trying to decipher his monthly bill and reached out to Kane In Your Corner for help.
“Why can’t [cellphone companies] make it so the average person can figure it out and compare?” he asked.
Consumer advocate Adam Levin says that he advises consumers to check their statements every few months.
“Make sure it reflects what you thought and what you want,” he says.
Levin says to pay attention to things like insurance and to ask yourself if it’s worth the monthly cost.
Users are also advised to look at how much data they use each month. An option that provides less data may be cheaper.
Some cellphone providers also offer new plans or pricing options that may be cheaper. Consumers should look to see if those are better fits for their needs.
“Just make sure that everything you see makes sense,” Levin says.
Levin also says to check to see when the contract is up, because it may be cheaper to consider a discounted brand such as Cricket, which is owned by AT&T or Boost, owned by Sprint. However, Levin does say that cheaper services usually come with slower internet connections.
