Support from all over the country has been pouring in for two boys who were injured when their father jumped off of the Wanaque Bridge with them.
Johnny Spincken, 3, and his 1-year-old brother Frankie survived the 100-foot fall Monday night. Their father John was killed. He apparently climbed on top of his truck that was parked on I-287 and jumped over the guard fence. He was said to have gotten into an argument with his wife just prior to the incident.
A GoFundMe Page was set up to support the boys and their family. Nearly $25,000 was raised as of Thursday evening.
Joseph Ianiro is one of the many people who contributed to the fundraiser.
"People, when they see a time of need, pitch in," Ianiro says. "I'm not surprised. I have such a love for the people's outpouring of love."
The Pequannock Police Department says they have been fielding calls from strangers to state agencies, all wanting to donate toys to the boys.
"It does show that there is still good out there in the world and good people in the world," says Pequannock Police Capt. Christopher DePuyt.
The Pequannock mayor says that he is not directly contacting the family in order to respect their privacy, but says that the town will be happy to provide them anything that they are able to.
Both boys remain in fair condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson.
