The Navy’s Blue Angels and Air Force’s Thunderbirds flew over parts of the tri-state area Tuesday afternoon as a tribute to the front-line workers battling against COVID-19.
Groups of New Jersey residents gathered along the Hudson River to catch a glimpse of the flyover – which featured six jets from each division.
Bree Quigliero brought her family to JFK Boulevard in Weehawken. She says that she is very appreciated of those working at regional hospitals to care for those with the illness.

“They are the ones keeping all of us alive right now. So, thank God for them and their bravery,” she says.
Quigliero says that she was fully aware that she was part of a crowd of people for the first time in weeks – breaking some of the social distancing guidelines.
“We were nervous being around all of these people, but luckily everybody is wearing a mask, so we feel a little bit better,” she says.
Most of the spectators were wearing masks while watching the jets speed through the area. Many said that they wanted to recognize the health care workers.
“Now everyone should unite around this problem. We are facing something we never have before,” says Andre Karasey.
After tours over the Hudson and East rivers, the fighter jets eventually headed south for Trenton and Philadelphia.
