Bloomfield police say that they have arrested two alleged package thieves in town.
Police say that Matthew Hemphill, 35, and Brittany Kiessler, 29, are accused of stealing a package from a Newark Avenue porch on Dec. 29. Home surveillance video helped identify the two, according to officials.
Bloomfield police say that despite this incident, package theft overall in the town was down this holiday season. Police credit an increase in officer presence around Bloomfield in the daytime hours, as well as utilizing undercover police vehicles to follow deliver trucks to watch out for suspicious behavior.
