A shelter for battered women in Passaic County is facing an uncertain future.
Strengthen Our Sisters houses and provides support for women in need. But the group is behind on its utility bills and recently had to replace the boiler system.
The group’s founder says that while some creditors have been supportive, others have not. They are now facing the possibility of having their services shut off, which would force the residents to move out.
“We owe about $90,000. But when that’s paid, we’re going to owe another $30,000 because it’s very expensive,” says founder Sandra Ramos.
Anyone who would like to make a donation to help the shelter can do so at the group’s website.
