PATERSON (AP) - Authorities say a New Jersey teacher sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.

Vincent McDuffie is also charged with aggravated criminal sexual contact and child endangerment. The 48-year-old Paterson man made his initial court appearance on Friday and will remain in custody until a bail hearing is held Wednesday.

Authorities say McDuffie has worked at a charter school and in the Paterson school district. But they have not said if the girl was a student of his at either school.

Passaic County prosecutors say the relationship started in June 2016 and continued through last month.

It wasn't clear Saturday if McDuffie has retained a lawyer. He faces more than 30 years in prison if he's convicted on all counts.
