The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects in a cold case dating back nearly 40 years.
Raul Suarez was stabbed to death in Absecon in 1985 while working as a taxi driver.
Prosecutors say that in the early morning hours of March 31, 1985, Suarez was attacked inside his taxi. A witness told police that they saw a struggle inside the cab and then saw Suarez walking on the street, injured. At least one suspect drove off in the cab. That cab was later found on North Michigan Avenue in Atlantic City.
Suarez would later die from his injuries.
Officials say Suarez was somewhat of a local celebrity, having been nicknamed “Cooks Books” while working as an emcee at Atlantic City’s 500 Club. The name followed him during his work as a local radio show host.
Anyone who might have information about the stabbing is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234 or 1-800-658-8477 (TIPS) or visit the Crime Stoppers website.
