Officials in Ridgefield have identified the man killed in a fire at the former Toddle Inn in Ridgefield earlier this week.

The fire happened early Wednesday morning at the vacant building on Broad Avenue. First responders say they found the body of Xavier Contreras inside the building.

Authorities say the building was boarded up at the time and was scheduled to be torn down.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
