Authorities have released the identity of a man found in the trunk of a car in Lakewood.
Police say 57-year-old David Kosciuk, of Lakewood, is the man whose remains were found Wednesday afternoon.
Kosciuk was found in a car parked at the Fairway Villas Apartment complex. A cause of death has not been revealed, and it’s not yet clear how he came to be in the trunk of a car.
Police have not revealed if Kosciuk was inside his own vehicle.
Manchester police reported Kosciuk missing in early February. An alert was sent out that Kosciuk was last seen in Brooklyn on Feb. 8 driving a gray 2017 Chevrolet Malibu.
Kosciuk lived at a home along New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood, 3 miles from where his remains were discovered. No one was at that home on Friday.
The Ocean County prosecutor says that there is no known danger to the public.
Anyone who might have information about Kosciuk’s death is urged to call Detective Olga Brylevskaya of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, extension 4105, or Detective Austin Letts of the Lakewood Township Police Department at 732-363-0200.
