A 5-year-old died after being found unresponsive in a bathtub on Monday night at a Newark apartment.

Newark police say they responded to the apartment on Washington Street after 7 p.m. The child was then transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead.

The Essex County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the death.
