A person familiar with the probe of Jeffrey Epstein's death at a federal jail says guards are suspected of falsifying log entries to show they were checking on inmates in his unit every half hour, when they actually weren't.
Epstein is believed to have killed himself early Saturday at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York by hanging himself with a bedsheet, where he was awaiting trial in a sex trafficking case.
According to the person familiar with the investigation, surveillance video reviewed after the death showed guards never made some of the checks noted in the log,
The person wasn't authorized to disclose information and spoke to The Associated Press Tuesday on condition of anonymity.
The Justice Department said earlier Tuesday that two guards assigned to watch Epstein had been placed on administrative leave, and the warden of the Metropolitan Correctional Center has been reassigned.
Reports say the two guards fell asleep and didn't check on him for three hours, then falsified records to try to cover up the mistake.
President Donald Trump says he wants to get to the bottom of what happened.
"Basically what we are saying is we want a full investigation, I want a full investigation and that is what I am demanding and what our attorney general, our great attorney general is doing a full investigation," says President Trump.

FBI agents are also taking a close look at Epstein's private island in the Virgin Islands.
The U.S. Attorney's Office is taking a look at filing conspiracy charges, meaning other people could be involved in his alleged crimes.
AP wire services helped contribute to this report.
