American Pharoah follows Triple Crown with Haskell Invitational win
American Pharoah followed up his Triple Crown with a victory on Sunday in the 48th Haskell Invitational.
It was the eighth consecutive win for the horse.
Record crowds of more than 60,000 people flocked to Monmouth Park on Sunday to watch the horse seek his next win.
American Pharoah is trained by Bob Baffert, who has won a record eight times at the Haskell, and is jockeyed by Victor Espinoza, whose previous win at the Haskell was in 2002 riding War Emblem.
The legend of American Pharoah starts on a farm in Kentucky. Bred by the Zayat family, American Pharoah is the offspring of Pioneer of the Nile, the 2009 Kentucky Derby runner-up. The horse went on to lose his first race, but hasn't disappointed again.
American Pharoah drew post position four and was listed as the 1-to-5 morning line favorite.
For fans leaving the park, NJ Transit added five additional trains after the race.
