About 70 activists turned out Saturday afternoon in Ocean County to protest a pet store that they say has been selling sick and dying animals.
One attendee, Brittany Reeves, told News 12 that she purchased her puppy from Breeders Association of America only for him to die less than two weeks later.
News 12 has learned that several other families are protesting for that same reason. Now, protestors are demanding the owners of the pet store change their business practices.
Earlier this month, the Ocean County Board of Health barred the pet store from selling puppies for 28 days. While, the pet store is allowed to sell merchandise, their doors have remain locked.
The Brick Town Council has since unanimously passed the first draft of an ordinance that bans the store from selling bred puppies. If the ordinance passes, the store would only be allowed to sell rescue animals.
