A Belleville police officer suffered a gunshot wound after his gun accidently fired inside the police station.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor, the gun belonged to the officer and went off inside the detective bureau at around 3:30 p.m. Monday. The officer suffered a flesh wound to his leg.
He was taken to a local hospital to be treated and is expected to be OK. No one else was injured.
The Essex County Prosecutor is investigating the incident.
