About 1.6M wooden chests sold at Walmart recalled
About 1.6 million wooden chests of drawers sold at Walmart have been recalled because of their tip over potential, leaving children at risk of injuries or even death.
Ameriwood, based in Tiffin, Ohio, recalled the Mainstays four-drawer chests Tuesday and said anyone who owns one that is not properly anchored to a wall should place it an area that children cannot access until it is fixed.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said it has received one report so far of an injury after a chest of drawers tipped over onto a 4-year-old child.
Ameriwood said it will supply a free repair kit that includes a wall anchoring device and feet for the unit.
Walmart sold the chests online and in stores from April 2009 through May 2016 for about $60 each. The chests were sold in alder, black forest, white, weathered oak, walnut and ruby red.
