Three people, including a 7-year-old boy, are dead following an apparent murder-suicide at a home in Lacey Township, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Lacey police confirmed in a press release Thursday.

According to the release, officers initially responded to a home on Nautilus Boulevard on Wednesday around 4 p.m. 

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato said all that he could confirm was that a family, including a husband, wife, the child and a dog, were involved in the incident. The child, 48-year-old wife and Welsh corgi were all pronounced dead at the scene. The 51-year-old husband was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with self-inflicted injuries and died at the hospital, Coronato said.

The prosecutor said in the release that no further details would be released Thursday, but added that no danger exists to the surrounding community. An investigation is ongoing.
