A woman and two children had to jump out a window as a fire destroyed several homes in Paterson, injuring four people and displacing 28 others.
The fire began shortly before 4 a.m. Friday at a home on 477 Ellison St. It spread to adjacent homes at 475 and 479 Ellison St.
Several neighbors, including a 16-year-old boy, helped rescue people.
The fire destroyed two homes and the third sustained smoke damage.
Fire officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
