2-year-old wanders away from Little Wonder World Day Care in Sayreville
The parents of a 2-year-old boy say that they are upset with their son’s day care after the child was able to wander away from the facility.
Ruben Mondalto and Jennifer Jimenez say that their son Ruben Jr. was able to walk out of the Little Wonder World Day Care on Washington Road in Sayreville Tuesday afternoon.
They say the boy, who will be 3 years old in June, likes to open doors and gates and that the day care knew about this. Apparently, it did not prevent the boy from making his way out of the classroom, through the lobby door and then out the front door of the day care.
The boy was alone in the front parking lot for about 10 minutes before a stranger came by and brought him to a deli next door and called police.
“I would love to find out who this man is, because he saved my son’s life,” Jennifer says. “I thank God that he was there and got out of the car and picked my son up and brought him to safety.”
The owner of the day care tells News 12 New Jersey that an incident like this has never happened before and that safety is the school’s biggest priority.
The Sayreville Police Department is investigating the incident.
