1 critical after Trenton fire; 5 homes damaged
A woman was critically injured and more than a dozen people were displaced when a large fire ripped though several row homes in Trenton.
Flames erupted on Hills Place near Cass Street at around 11 p.m. Friday. The fire damaged or destroyed five row homes along the narrow alley.
A 22-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition. Her identity was not released.
Two firefighters were also treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, but are expected to be OK.
Fire crews say the fact that the fire broke out in the middle of the block made it difficult to fight. Hundreds of yards of hose had to be connected to the only working fire hydrant nearby.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
