Newark police officer not charged in connection to fatal shooting

The state Attorney General's Office says Don Jones had an active warrant for an arrest from a homicide in Union County.

A state grand jury has declined to charge a police officer in connection to a fatal shooting that took place last August.
The state Attorney General's Office says Don Jones had an active warrant for an arrest from a homicide in Union County.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Task Force surrounded Jones at West Side Park in Newark. Jones fatally shot himself in the head. An officer also shot at Jones but missed.
