Westfield school to close for 14 days after 2nd staff member tests positive for COVID-19
A school in Westfield will be closed for 14 days after a second staff member tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the school superintendent.
Superintendent Dr. Margaret Dolan says that a second staff member at the Lincoln School tested positive for the virus. Dolan says state guidelines require the school to closes for 14 days if there are two or more COVID-positive cases within two weeks across multiple classes in one school and there is no indication that the cases are connected.
Dolan says that Lincoln School will switch to remote learning for the next two weeks starting on Friday.
“In addition to normal enhanced cleaning procedures that take place daily, building custodians will implement deep cleaning protocols on all surfaces at the school,” Dolan said in a letter to parents.
Dolan also reminded all parents to watch their children for any signs of COVID-19 infection.
