The location at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison will be larger than the field hospital set up at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus. This one will offer 500 beds.
Gov. Phil Murphy, Sen. Cory Booker and other state and military officials toured the facility Wednesday morning.
“We are trying to get two lines to meet, on the one hand cracking the back of the curve through social distancing and trying to build up our health care,” Murphy said. “So, those two lines cross, so we don't have one of these, we can't afford it."
The Secaucus hospital has 250 beds and is filling up quickly.

The governor has said the field hospitals are expected to serve only non-coronavirus patients, taking pressure off other hospitals so they can treat those with COVID-19.
A third FEMA hospital is set to open in Atlantic City.
