Family members are desperately searching for a 56-year-old woman who they say went missing on Valentine's Day.
The family says Hilda Rivera-Lugo lives with her son and managed to slip out the front door while he was in the bathroom. They say the 56-year-old tried to run out once before, but her children were able to stop her.
The family says Rivera-Lugo is in a vulnerable state since she has dementia, as well as severe brain trauma from when she was hit by a car more than a year ago. As a result, they say her speech is impaired. The family compares it to the way a child speaks.
Loved ones believe she could have traveled all the way to the Bronx since there is a No. 3 train subway stop not far from her house and she has friends there. Days later with no clue as to where she went, her daughters are bracing for the worst.
Flyers have been posted all across the boroughs as well as on social media. On Wednesday, the family plans to take the No. 3 train all the way to the end—making stops along the way to look for clues.
The NYPD is asking the public to contact them if they spot her.
